What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is possible from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Based on experience, our apartments are often ready for occupancy as early as 12:00 PM. An early check-in is therefore often possible but cannot be guaranteed, as it depends on the departure of previous guests and the subsequent cleaning. On the day of departure, we ask you to vacate your apartment by 10:00 AM at the latest. Please let us know your estimated arrival time at the time of your reservation.
What information is required for check-in?
In Austria, accommodation establishments are legally required to register their guests. For this, we need some personal information such as name, address, and date of birth. To make your arrival as uncomplicated as possible, we recommend that you complete our online check-in a few days before your arrival. This way, the required data is already provided, and check-in on-site is quick.
How can I book an apartment?
You can easily book your apartment directly through our website. Through the online booking system, you can immediately see the available apartments and the current price for your desired travel period. With a direct booking through our website, you are guaranteed to receive our best price. Alternatively, you can send us a non-binding inquiry or contact us personally via email or phone. Are there special offers or discounts for guests?
Yes. Depending on the season, we offer special holiday packages and attractive deals for your stay in Wagrain. With the Wagrain-Kleinarl guest card, you also benefit from numerous free services and discounts in the region. For example, in summer, you receive a 50% discount on the 12 Peaks Adventure Card, providing particularly affordable access to participating summer mountain lifts. What are the cancellation conditions?
The cancellation conditions depend on the rate you choose: "best FIX booking": This rate offers you our lowest price but is non-cancellable or non-changeable. In case of cancellation, no refund will be provided. The rate can only be booked up to 60 days before arrival. "best FLEXIBLE booking": A free cancellation is possible up to 30 days before departure. In case of a later cancellation or no-show, 90% of the booked arrangement price will be charged.

Are dogs allowed in the apartments?
Yes, your four-legged companion is very welcome here. We charge €12 per night for dogs. To ensure your dog feels comfortable from the start, we are happy to provide a food and water bowl free of charge upon request. Please note that dogs are not allowed in the pool and sunbathing areas for hygiene reasons. You will find numerous walking and hiking trails around Wagrain that are perfect for outings with your dog.

What apartments are available?
We offer 15 modern and well-equipped apartments in different sizes – suitable for couples, families, and larger travel groups. Depending on the apartment, you will have different living and sleeping areas as well as a balcony or terrace. This way, you can find the right temporary home with us for both a holiday for two and a stay with the whole family. What are the apartments equipped with?
Our 15 modern apartments are high quality and equipped with everything you need for a relaxed and independent holiday. Each apartment features a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, oven, microwave, refrigerator with freezer compartment, coffee machine, and kettle. Additional amenities include cozy living and sleeping areas, bathrooms, balcony or terrace, free Wi-Fi, TV, and safe. Bed linen and towels are of course also provided and included in the price. How centrally are the Appartements Schattauer located?
We are located just 2 walking minutes away from the center of Wagrain. Due to our perfect location most restaurants, supermarkets, shops and other points of interest are reachable in no time. Also the ski stations are nearby and can easily be reached with the free of charge ski bus. The ski bus station is just 50 meters away from accomodation. From here free of charge ski busses are bringing you in intervals of 10 minutes to the lift stations. The nearest one is the Grafenberg gondola which is reachable within 2 minutes.
What are the prices for the stay in the Appartements Schattauer?
The price for your stay depends on travel period, length of stay, chosen apartment, and number of people. Through our online booking, you can check the current availability at any time and immediately see the total price for your desired stay. When booking directly through our website, you are guaranteed to get our best price. Please feel free to send us a non-binding inquiry – we will create a personal offer for your holiday in Wagrain.
Are the apartments wheelchair accessible?
Our apartments are not officially classified as wheelchair accessible, but due to their design, they are also very suitable for guests with limited mobility. All apartments are accessible without steps and comfortably reachable by elevator, the doors are sufficiently wide, and no steps need to be overcome in the entire guest area. We have welcomed guests in wheelchairs several times who felt very comfortable in our house. Since individual requirements may vary, we recommend that you contact us briefly before booking. We would be happy to advise you personally and assist you in selecting the appropriate apartment.
Are the laundry facilities for the guests?
Yes, our guests have access to a washing machine and a dryer in the house. The cost of use is € 7,- per wash cycle. We provide the necessary detergent free of charge. This way, you can conveniently wash and dry your laundry directly in our house even during longer stays or family vacations.

Family & Children

Is there a playground for children?
Yes, right by our house, children will find a spacious outdoor play area with plenty of room for playing and having fun. The equipment includes, among other things, a trampoline, swings, slides, climbing wall, table tennis as well as Bobby cars and scooters. The playground is located directly next to the apartments and offers children plenty of variety in the fresh air during the summer. In the winter the children can play on the lawn next to our apartement house. Shovels, snow toys, and sliding mats are provided by us.
Is there a children's playroom?
Yes, our small guests have access to a large children's playroom of about 50 m² year-round free of charge. Here children will find various play options and plenty of space to play and let off steam – ideal even on days when the weather doesn't cooperate. Additionally, there is a cozy lounge area with board games, puzzles, and dexterity games. In our large library corner, you will also find a selection of children's books and books for adults that you can borrow free of charge at any time during your stay. This way, there is also plenty of variety beyond the pool, playground, and mountains.
What equipment is available for babies and toddlers?
To ensure you can travel with a baby or toddler as relaxed as possible and with less luggage, we provide numerous extras free of charge. These include a crib, high chair, step stool, diaper bin, changing mat, baby dishes, bibs, and bed rails. In summer, you can additionally borrow a stroller, buggy, and a child carrier free of charge; in winter, sledges are available for our little guests. Please let us know before your arrival what equipment you need – we will be happy to prepare everything for you.
Is there a pool and is it heated?
Yes, from mid-May to end of September, our heated outdoor pool with a spacious sunbathing area is available to our guests free of charge. The water temperature is between approximately 25 and 30 °C, depending on the season and weather. This way, the pool can also be enjoyed comfortably on somewhat cooler summer days. Particularly practical for families: the pool, sunbathing area, and children's playground are located right next to each other, allowing for a wonderful combination of relaxing hours by the pool with play and fun for the children.

Winter & Skiing

How do you reach the ski lifts from the Schattauer apartments?
The Grafenbergbahn is the nearest access to the ski area and is particularly convenient to reach with the free ski bus. The ski bus stop is located just about 50 meters from our house. The buses operate regularly during the day at intervals of about 10 to 15 minutes and take you directly to the Grafenbergbahn in just about 2 minutes. The main offices of the ski schools and two ski rental shops are also located at the valley station. This way, you can quickly and conveniently reach the ski lift, ski school, and ski rental, and leave your car parked in our underground garage during your ski holiday.
Where is the nearest ski bus stop?
The nearest ski bus stop is located just about 50 meters from our house. The free ski bus runs every 10 to 15 minutes during the day and takes you directly to the Grafenbergbahn and thus directly to the access to the ski area in just about 2 minutes.
Where can you store ski equipment?
A free, heated, and lockable ski depot is available directly in our house. Each apartment has its own ski locker where you can securely store your ski and snowboard equipment. Alternatively, you can also store your ski equipment directly at the valley stations of the ski lifts in a ski depot. These depots incur a fee and are particularly convenient if you do not want to transport your equipment daily with the ski bus.
Where can you get ski passes?
You can usually get your ski passes most affordably through the online shop of Snow Space Salzburg. Starting from September, ski passes can be booked there at attractive early-bird prices for the upcoming winter season. Particularly convenient: If you purchase your ski pass online in advance, we can issue it directly for you at our reception. Thanks to our own ski pass printer, you no longer have to wait in line at the lift ticket office and can start your ski day relaxed. Alternatively, you can also buy your ski passes directly at our reception. In the pre-season, post-season, and in January, we can offer our guests ski passes at reduced prices.
Where are the ski school and ski rental located?
For ski rental, we recommend Sport 2000 Obermoser, located only about 200 meters from our house in the center of Wagrain. Other ski rental shops as well as the Wagrain ski school and the Rot-Weiß-Rot ski school can be found directly at the valley station of the Grafenbergbahn. You can also rent your ski equipment at both ski schools. The Grafenbergbahn is conveniently reachable with the free ski bus: The stop is only about 50 meters from our house, and the ride to the valley station takes about 2 minutes.
How large is the ski area around Wagrain?
Wagrain is located in the midst of one of the largest interconnected ski areas in Austria. From Snow Space Salzburg, which includes Flachau, Wagrain, and St. Johann/Alpendorf, you can access Kleinarl-Flachauwinkl and Zauchensee via the lift connections. This gives you a total of 210 interconnected kilometers of ski slopes, about 70 lift facilities, as well as 12 peaks and 5 valleys – all with just one ski pass. With a multi-day ski pass, you also have access to the entire Ski amadé area with a total of 760 kilometers of ski slopes.
What winter activities are available in Wagrain besides skiing?
Wagrain-Kleinarl offers numerous opportunities to enjoy winter beyond the slopes. These include winter hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, tobogganing, ice skating, ski touring, and horse-drawn sleigh rides through the snow-covered winter landscape. Many winter hiking trails, snowshoe routes, and cross-country skiing trails can be used free of charge. Thus, a winter holiday in Wagrain can also be varied outside of the ski slopes.

Arrival, Parking and E-mobility

How can I drive to the Schattauer Apartments in Wagrain?
The Schattauer Apartments are easily accessible by car. Coming from Salzburg, Munich, Vienna, or Linz, take the A10 Tauern motorway towards Villach until exit 66 Flachau. From there, follow the B163 for about 10 km to Wagrain. In the town center of Wagrain, turn right at the church, after about 150 m, turn into "Schönleitenstraße" before the roundabout, and follow this for about 200 m to our accommodation. Are there free parking spaces?
Yes, we offer free parking options directly at the accommodation for our guests. In our underground garage, there is a maximum of one parking space per apartment available, subject to availability. Additional free parking spaces are available around our house. Reservation of the parking spaces is not necessary.
Can I charge my electric car at the apartments?
Yes, there are two E-charging stations available directly at our house, each with a charging power of up to 11 kW. Charging is done via a Type 2 connector. We charge € 0.59 per kWh for the charging service.
How do I get to Wagrain from Salzburg Airport?
Salzburg Airport W. A. Mozart is about 70 km from Wagrain and is the nearest international airport. For transportation to the apartments, we recommend Taxi Huber from Flachau. The company offers affordable private and shared transfers from Salzburg Airport directly to Wagrain. We recommend reserving the transfer in advance of your arrival.
How do I travel to Wagrain by train and public transport?
The nearest train station is in St. Johann im Pongau. From there, there are good bus connections directly to Wagrain. Particularly convenient is the Guest Mobility Ticket: With this, our guests can use all public transport in the Salzburg region for free during their entire stay – including regional and city buses, S-trains, and regional and long-distance trains. If you would like to arrive by train and bus, please contact us a few days before your arrival. After the pre-check-in, we can already send you your Guest Mobility Ticket digitally in advance so that you can use it for your journey within the Salzburg region. This way, you remain flexible without a car during your holiday and can comfortably reach numerous excursion destinations using public transport.
Do I need a vignette or have to pay tolls when traveling to Wagrain?
When traveling on Austrian motorways and expressways, you generally need a valid vignette. If you arrive from Salzburg or Munich via the A10 Tauern motorway and exit at Flachau, no additional toll is incurred for the drive to Wagrain. The Austrian vignette is available as a sticker or digital vignette and can be purchased before the trip.
What traffic regulations should I observe when traveling by car to Austria?
When traveling by car to Austria, you must carry a warning vest, warning triangle, and first aid kit in the vehicle. From November 1 to April 15, there is a winter tire requirement in winter road conditions such as snow, slush, or ice. For driving to our alpine region, we also recommend carrying suitable snow chains in winter. On appropriately marked road sections, snow chains may be required in winter conditions. Please also observe the speed limits and traffic rules applicable in Austria. We recommend checking the current regulations and road conditions shortly before your trip.

Summer, Leisure & Surroundings

What advantages does the Salzburg Sports World Card (Guest Card) offer?
You will receive the Salzburg Sports World Card free of charge as our guest for the duration of your stay. With the guest card, you benefit from numerous free services and attractive discounts in Wagrain-Kleinarl and the Salzburg Sports World. Special advantages include daily free entry to the Wagrain Water World as well as numerous discounts on leisure activities and excursion destinations. In summer, the guest card is particularly attractive: for a stay of 3 nights or more, you receive a 50% discount on the 12 Peaks Adventure Card when purchased online. Additionally, guests from Wagrain-Kleinarl receive a free day ticket for the summer mountain railway for every two overnight stays at Shuttleberg Kleinarl. You will receive the guest card digitally on your smartphone after check-in.
What can you do in Wagrain when the weather is bad?
Even when the weather doesn't cooperate, there is much to experience in Wagrain and the surrounding area. Right in Wagrain, you can visit the Water World Wagrain with its indoor pool. Entry is free for our guests. For families, we also offer our children's playroom with about 50 m² as well as our lounge with games and a reading corner. For an excursion, you can visit the Salt Worlds Salzburg in Hallein, Hohenwerfen Castle, the Ice Giants World in Werfen, or the city of Salzburg. Several thermal baths and adventure pools in the region are also a nice alternative when it rains.
What excursion destinations are there around Wagrain?
Special highlights include the Liechtenstein Gorge, the Ice Giants World in Werfen, Hohenwerfen Castle, the Salt Worlds Salzburg in Hallein, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, and of course, the city of Salzburg. Numerous thermal baths and adventure pools in the region also offer a relaxing excursion option. Nature lovers will find impressive mountain lakes, waterfalls, gorges, and caves. There is also much to discover directly in Wagrain and Kleinarl – from adventure mountains and summer mountain railways to the idyllic Jägersee.
What activities are available in summer around Wagrain?
In summer, Wagrain-Kleinarl offers a wide range of activities for families, nature lovers, and sports enthusiasts. Approximately 230 km of marked hiking trails lead to alpine pastures, mountain lakes, and scenic peaks. For cyclists and mountain bikers, around 150 km of signposted bike and e-bike routes are available. With the summer mountain railways, you can comfortably reach the mountain world. Families can look forward to numerous adventure and theme trails, as well as special offers for children. Additionally, in the region, you can participate in activities such as climbing, archery, soccer golf, paragliding, or alpaca hiking. Even outside of sports activities, there are numerous unique natural and excursion destinations to discover around Wagrain and in Salzburg Land – from impressive gorges and waterfalls to mountain lakes and caves, as well as well-known attractions. Due to our central location in Salzburg Land, many amazing excursion destinations are very quickly accessible.
